Tour description

In 1927, Albert Ernest Fuller acquired a delivery route around the Bay of Islands known as the Cream Trip. Locals and visitors began to come along for the ride, and tourism in the Bay of Islands was born.

Today we still follow the original Cream Trip route, delivering mail and supplies to island residents and showing you the best of the Bay on a relaxed day-long cruise. This is the perfect cruise for nature lovers, and the most extensive historical cruise offered in the Bay of Islands.

Dolphin viewing
See the Hole in the Rock
Island stopover
Island deliveries
The Black Rocks and Marsden Cross

Enjoy stunning views of the islands as we travel out through the islands on our new vessel Te Maki, making deliveries on our way. On arrival at Cape Brett Lighthouse, the farthest post of the original Cream Trip, we take you through the stunning Hole in the Rock at Motukokako Island. You’ll also see the impressive Black Rocks and Marsden Cross, where the first Christian sermon in New Zealand was held in 1814.

See dolphins in their natural environment – it’s a life-changing experience! Alternatively try boom-netting, hanging on to the net as we glide through the water.

Spend some time at Otehei Bay on Urupukapuka Island - relax on the beach, head up to the viewing point for a breath-taking outlook, and grab a snack at the island's café. Ninety years on, the Cream Trip cruise is still the best way to see the Bay.

"Just amazing is all I can say!!! Super trip out on the water!! Great staff and the captains commentary throughout the trip was informative and lots of really interesting facts - he really knew his stuff. The boat itself was very comfortable, able to buy snacks and drinks, also the toilets were clean. We got to see penguins, lots of bird life, common dolphins and bottle nosed dolphins. Even got to go though the hole in the rock!! We loved the stop in the island for lunch! Family friendly and we enjoyed the

"Money so well spent. Learn so much history about the birth of NZ. Have fun on a boat, see dolphins and fish, and heaps of other cool stuff. Captain and crew made the trip so enjoyable, can’t thank them enough. The boom netting is a blast. We even had rain for the first half of the day but still one of the most enjoyable trips I’ve ever done. Just book it!!"

So good. Just needs to be done.
